Ball bearings introduction:
First of all, we will introduce what is bearing? Bearing is a very important part of all machinery and equipment. Its function is to support, fix and reduce friction. In the working of mechanical equipment, bearings are essential. It can not only reduce the friction coefficient but also speed up the operation of the equipment. We also can call it a mechanical joint
Secondly, according to the different moving components, it has two types: roller bearings and ball bearing. However, according to the name, we can easily think that the rolling element is balls, so call it ball bearing. Among them, there are four types of ball bearings: deep groove ball bearing, self-aligning ball bearing, angular contact ball bearing, and thrust ball bearing.
The working principle of ball bearings:
Replace sliding friction with rolling friction. We can understand that if there is no bearing, then the shaft is actually a simple shaft, which can be compared with an iron rod. Rolling bearings usually have four large parts: inner ring, outer ring, rolling elements, and cage. We can choose roll bearing of different structures according to the use scene, load capacity, and performance. If the working environment is relatively poor, we can select a sealed bearing to extend its service life.
The fix of the bearing is the same as the installation of other parts. It also follows the working principle of thermal expansion and contraction. but during the installation process, the heating-temperature should be controlled at 80-100°c. And the external force is directly applied to the end face of the tightly-fitted ring and doesn’t transmit pressure through rolling elements. Whether the bearing is installed well or not will affect the accuracy, life, and performance of the bearings. So we must strictly control the installation method.
